Chairman, Keith Boyd, New signing, Daniel Hughes and Head Coach, Rodney McAree.

We are delighted to announce that we have obtained the signature of  striker Daniel Hughes from Cliftonville. This comes as a massive boost to the club ahead of our fixture against Ards this Saturday .

Hughes, 25, has previously been on the books of Warrenpoint Town who spotted the player at Orchard City in 2013. In January 2015 he had a trial at Bolton Wanderers and eventually moved to Cliftonville in the January 2016 transfer window where he has remained until now.

Speaking to us Hughes expressed his own thoughts on his move to Dungannon;

” What was a big attraction to me was the way Rodney (McAree) sets up his team and how they want to play. I felt this would really suit my style of play and that I would be a good match.”

“One of my main reasons for making the move to Stangmore was for the reason every player wants – to get game time. I wasn’t getting enough of that at Cliftonville and Rodney offered me the opportunity to play for his team and get a lot more game time!”

“Dungannon is a Club which is very family orientated, something that I was used to at my time with Warrenpoint Town and I loved that, so that is also a big plus. My ambitions meet the ambitions that DSFC also have, pushing on up the table and trying to get into the mix, as well as challenging for European Football!”

Head Coach Rodney McAree has signed Hughes on a two and a half year deal.

“I am thrilled we have been able to secure the signature of Daniel Hughes until June 2020. We have been actively looking for a striker and I am delighted as I know we have got the best possible player to come in to fill this position. He is a goalscorer and the kind of player we really have been missing. I really am looking forward to working with him and I’m so happy he has chosen Dungannon Swifts as his new club!”  Rodney McAree

Welcome to Stangmore Park Daniel.
