Kris Lindsay, has moved to make his first signing as Manager of Dungannon Swifts Football Club. We are delighted to welcome former Irish League star, Diarmuid O’Carroll to Stangmore Park.

Thirty one year old, Killarney native, O’Carroll, has recently returned from working in America and as ‘an out of contract pro’ has agreed to sign for DSFC on a short term deal. The forward will therefore be included in our squad to play Glentoran, at Stangmore Park, this Saturday.

“I am delighted to sign for a Club and a Manager that I’ve massive respect for. Whether it be for only 1 game or 5, I’ll try my best to help the team out as much as I can. I’m really looking forward to playing with the boys and hopefully helping to get the team up the table.” said O’Carroll

Speaking about his first signing, Manager Kris Lindsay had this to say;

“I am obviously delighted to get Diarmuid on board with us. Diarmuid has great experience in Irish League Football and also has the winning mentally, which he has proved throughout his career, with plenty of silverware to his name. He is able to come straight into the squad as he is an out of contract pro, which is super news for us. I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do on the pitch . Obviously with Daniel Hughes currently out injured we have limited options up front and Diarmuid will certainly give us an added boost!”

Hopefully you will all come out in big numbers to support the team and our new signing Diarmuid on Saturday.

Welcome to Stangmore Park, Diarmuid.

Teenage midfielders Oisin Smyth and Cahal McGinty have signed professional contracts at the delight of Manager Kris Lindsay;

“Oisin and Cahal are both excellent young players, who I’m delighted to get signed on professional deals. It is a just reward for their attitude and application, and if they keep showing that desire to learn and progress as players, I have no doubt they both have big futures in the game. I must thank Dixie (Robinson), Jay (Willis), Terry (Fitzpatrick) and the rest of the development coaches for the great work they are doing with our young players and the club will reap the benefits of this in the years ahead.”

Smyth has been on the books at Dungannon (Swifts & DUY) since he was 12 years old and McGinty has been part of the Club for the past two and a half years. Both players are central midfielders and very exciting prospects.

Smyth said;

“I am very happy to sign my first professional contract with Dungannon Swifts. I have been working towards this for a while, thankfully now I’ve got my opportunity and hopefully I can push on. I have been playing for Dungannon for a while now and I’m really enjoying it. It’s a fantastic club and I can’t wait to push forward!”

McGinty had this to say;

“I’m delighted to sign my first professional contract with Dungannon, I am looking forward to the new challenge and working under the new management!”

Congratulations Oisin and Cahal, all the best for the future.

BREAKING | Head of Development Appointed

BREAKING | Head of Development Appointed

Dungannon Swifts is delighted to announce that Dixie Robinson has accepted the role of ‘Head of Development‘ at DSFC.

Dixie first signed for DSFC in 1984 and has been a part of the club for 34 years. He is passionate about Youth Development and we look forward to being able to draw on his experience, to help nurture all of the young talent coming through our Academy.

“I am delighted with my new position at the Club and I feel it’s an extension of the work I’m doing at Dungannon United Youth, just with an older group of players. I’ll be working with 15-19 year olds and I think with the group we have, it’s a fantastic opportunity for me. First and foremost I hope we continue to get more young players moving through to the first team and even better, get some across the water which would be terrific for both the Player and the Club. I can’t say enough how I really appreciate the opportunity given to me.”

We wish Dixie well in his development role as well as continuing as Manager of our Under 20 Development team.

Dungannon Swifts would like to put on record our thanks to those coaches and staff who worked under Rodney McAree who are no longer part of the current backroom staff. We appreciate all the work that was carried out by them and we wish them well for the future. Thank you, from all at Dungannon Swifts Football Club.
