TRANSFER NEWS | Centre Forward latest addition to Squad.

With just two days until the season kicks off at Stangmore Park, Rodney McAree, Head Coach of Dungannon Swifts, has moved to bolster his first team squad with the addition of centre forward player, Marcio Soares.

“Marcio has done extremely well during pre-season, he’s came into the team, worked hard, has shown a great enthusiasm and desire to be part of the group going forward. He is another goal scorer, he’s a centre forward player which gives us more options and competition for places. I think he will prove to be a valuable asset to our squad, from now until the end of this season and hopefully beyond.” Rodney McAree

The twenty-two year old, Portuguese born player has Irish League experience after having being on the books at both Portadown and Crusaders. Soares is looking forward to getting back to life in the Irish League;

“I am very, very delighted to be back in the Irish League, especially playing for a top team like Dungannon swifts FC. I am looking forward to playing for one of the best managers in the League and also to start a new challenge for myself personally.”

Welcome to Stangmore Park, Marcio and we wish you every success in a Swifts shirt.

SUPERCUPNI | Dungannon Swifts U13s – Globe Winners

As a Club we were absolutely delighted that our Dungannon Swifts Under 13 Squad accompanied by Coaches, Mel Somerville, Rodney McAree & Dixie Robinson, not only had great fun throughout the week, but that they also represented the Club with great honour and pride.

The boys suffered two defeats early in the week to Coleraine and Portadown but that did not hold them back. After beating Westham United (3-1, goals from Elijah Weathered, Kenny Ximenes and Jack Jazstal) and St Johnstone (3-2, goals from Kenny Ximenes, Dara McCloskey and Corey Smith) the boys were ecstatic to make the Globe Final where they came up against familiar opposition again, in Westham United. They remained focused and got their rewards coming out 3-1 winners on the day, Kenny Ximenes scoring a second half hat trick.

Swifts Coach, Dixie Robinson, who presented a player from REEDS FOOTBALL ACADEMY with one of the medals obtained by the DSFC U13 Globe winning team at the SUPER CUPNI.

As many of you are aware our DSFC Under 13 squad won the Minor Section SUPERCUPNI Globe on Friday, much to the excitement of all players and staff who had put a lot of work in, prior to the competition, in preparation for such an opportunity.

On Friday afternoon all the minor teams, who were not in the top four, gathered for the awards presentation. Included in this selection was a team who travelled all the way from India, REEDS FOOTBALL ACADEMY. Despite not having played against the Reeds team during the SUPERCUPNI, the Swifts team did note how friendly and sporting the side had been towards them off the pitch. On seeing the excitement on the DSFC players faces and the little faces looking on from Reeds FA, Dungannon staff knew they could help in just a small way.

As a sporting gesture of good will, the Dungannon Staff took it upon themselves to present a medal won by DSFC, to a player on the Reeds FA team to take back home with them. The sheer happiness it brought to this child was unbelievable.

Why not be that person who makes someone else look forward to tomorrow? A small act of kindness can go a long way.
