Transfer news…

Darren Murphy has had a busy evening sorting out players for next season. Both Terry Fitzpatrick and David McCullough have signed new two year deals and Francis Brennan has agreed to a new one year deal.

“It is great to get these three lads sorted and have a lot of the current squad tied down for next season!” Said Murphy.

Jamie Tomelty has not been offered a new contract, Abby Sanusi has been released to go to America to try to play over there and midfielder Grant Hutchinson has also been released to go to England to complete his PGCE.

Murphy has expressed his thanks to the boys “I would like to thank all three boys for their contribution this season and wish them all the best in their different paths that they will be going on.”

On behalf of Dungannon Swifts we would like to congratulate all three boys who signed new deals and wish Jamie, Grant and Abby all the best.

Keeper Andy Coleman signs new two year deal.

Goalkeeper Andy Coleman is the eighth player to sign an extension to his contract at Dungannon Swifts since January. Coleman signed on the dotted line last night for a further two years and is delighted to be remaining at the club for at least the next two seasons. He joins the list of Ryan Harpur, Grant Hutchinson, Jamie Douglas, Andrew Mitchell, David Armstrong, Matthew Hazley and Dougie Wilson who have all recently penned new deals.

Speaking to us today Andy said,

“I couldn’t be happier to sign my extension for the club. There are twelve goalkeepers who get to play top flight football every Saturday and I certainly dont take it for granted how lucky I am to be one of them every week! Dungannon have one of the best training facilities in Ireland with 3 outdoor 3G pitches and one indoor pitch, plus a gym and spinning facilities if needed, so as players we are spoilt to have those. Also we train with the best footballing coach I’ve worked with in ten years in the Irish league (Rodney). He puts on the most unbelieveable sessions every Tuesday and Thursday, a coach who I believe will coach at a top level in England. The youth system is also top notch at Dungannon United Youth, so all in all the future is bright and I can’t wait to be part off it.”

First team coach Rodney McAree expressed his delight to us regards signing Andy for a further two years…

“It’s great news that Andy has committed to the club for a further 2 seasons, he’s proved a super addition to the squad, he has many qualities as a goal keeper, his distribution for me is 2nd to none and for our style of play he suits perfect! More great news for the swifts on the back of recent contract  extensions!”

We are overjoyed that Andy and the rest of the players are enjoying their days at Stangmore park and as Andy said , THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT!!

Congratulations and best wishes Andy in your future Swifts career.

Matthew Hazley signs contract extension

playersm002The good news just keeps on coming at Stangmore Park regards players committing their futures to the club. Matthew Hazley becomes the latest addition to the list of players who have already signed extensions to their contracts.

After having agreed his extension on Thursday night Matthew said,

” I’m over the moon to have signed a new contract, Dungannon is a great club full of great people and when Murph (Darren Murphy) approached me with the chance of staying and signing I was never going to turn it down. We have a great bunch of lads, everyone gets on with each other which is massive for me. Another factor was Rodney (McAree) and his training, he’s the best coach I’ve ever worked with and to work with him every week is a joy. Hopefully we can kick on and keep climbing the table. “

In other news Twenty year old midfielder Jamie Glackin will be remaining a Swifts player for the immediate future after interest from other clubs has been put on hold for the rest of the season.

Glackin said, “I am happy to be staying at Dungannon Swifts to the end of the season, it’s a great club, with great people and top training what more do you want!”

This news regards both Hazley and Glackin comes as a massive boost ahead of an important away game to Warrenpoint Town tomorrow. (Kick off 3pm)

Continued best wishes to both players for their Swifts futures.
