Transfer News: Türker signs for Swifts

2014-01-16 21.41.04-1The latest addition to the squad at Stangmore Park comes in the form of goalkeeper – Berraat Türker. The 22 year old German joins the club having played for Monaghan United and Dundalk in the League of Ireland. At 6’2″ Berraat (known as Brat) is a welcome addition to the Club and will provide some healthy competition for our current number one keeper, Buchanan.

Türker, who works as a part-time model, has expressed great enthusiasm at signing for the Swifts;

“I am delighted to receive the fantastic opportunity to sign for Dungannon Swifts. It is a massive chance for me to prove myself at this level and I am really looking forward to getting involved with the club. My dream starts now!”Tuker dundalk

Speaking about his fourth signing of the January transfer window, Darren Murphy said;

“We have been in the market for a goalkeeper and a good friend of Dungannon Swifts, John Heffernan, contacted Joe McAree and informed him there was a goalkeeper in Monaghan that we should have a look at. Berraat has trained with us the last two weeks and we are delighted he has signed a contract until the end of the season. He will come in and work alongside Gareth who has done a fantastic job from the start of the season. Hopefully both lads will continue to develop under the expert coaching of Brian Hutchinson our current goalkeeping coach”.

Welcome to Stangmore Park Brat and we wish you every success.

Transfer News: Brolly & Costello

Transfer News: Brolly & Costello

pe_00237253Former Swifts player Marc Brolly has re-joined us at Stangmore Park. Winger Brolly left the Club to sign for Derry City and had a spell with Finn Harps before finding his way back to Dungannon.  The 27 year old brings with him experience from the League of Ireland and will provide healthy competition for places at Stangmore.

Murphy has stated how Marc signing for the club actually happened by chance;

“On Marcs arrival back at the club it came somewhat out of the blue. Marc contacted Rod and asked would it be possible for him to train with us and he has impressed over the last number of weeks, so we offered him a contract. Marc is technically very good and has bags of pace. He can play on either wing or through the middle so he gives us a few more attacking options. Hopefully he will prove to be a valuable asset to the squad.”

Leaving Stangmore Park is striker James Costello who joined us this time last year from Ballymena United. Murphy has expressed grateful thanks to James for his time spent with us.Danske Bank Premiership - Glentoran v Dungannon Swifts

“I’d like to thank James who did well in his time at Dungannon Swifts. He scored some important goals last season that helped us secure 10 years in the Premier League. I wish him every success at Loughgall FC. He was a pleasure to work with and we parted on good terms as James has a burning desire to play first team football, which unfortunately I was unable to guarantee him.”

We would like to take the opportunity to wish Marc all the best back at Stangmore and to thank James for all his services to the Club. Good luck to both lads.

Former Ballymena United Striker Gary Liggett has signed a two and a half year deal at the club. Twenty Six year old Liggett, described as a big, strong, powerful boy by Murphy will be a terrific addition to our squad along with our other January signing Jamie Tomelty.

Murphy stated, “Gary hasn’t had a great spell at Ballymena but I feel that I will be able to get more out of him and reach his potential. Dungannon is a very homely club and hopefully this will also be a beneficial factor in helping us settle Gary into enjoying his football here. I believe in him and that he will scored goals. I don’t like to put pressure on the boys, I prefer them to prove themselves. I will encourage Gary like I do the rest of the boys, to play with a smile on his face and enjoy his football like he did when he was a 11/12 year old boy. I’m delighted to have him on board.”

Gary has expressed how he is “really looking forward to a fresh start at Dungannon and can’t wait to get involved. Hopefully I can repay the supporters and management with goals.”

In other news transfer news Darren Murphy this morning released the welcoming news that Swifts defender Dermot McCaffrey has signed a new 18 month contract and fellow defender Cameron Grieve has agreed a new one year extension to his current contract.

“As a club we are absolutely delighted that Dermy has agreed to stay for a further 18 months. It gives us a real boost. Like Dermy, Cameron has been superb since his move from Glenavon and I am delighted that Cameron sees his future at Dungannon Swifts,” said Murphy.

Glentoran had expressed interest in McCaffrey after sending letters to enquire about him to both the player and the Club. However, Dermy has chosen to remain at the Swifts, where he played football as a youngster, for the foreseeable future.

Jamie Tomelty makes return to Stangmore

Jamie Tomelty makes return to Stangmore

pics_002Tomelty, who was recently playing for Coagh United, made his return to Stangmore Park in our 1-0 defeat to Glentoran yesterday as a second half sub. Tomelty previously played for us between 2006 and 2007 and has since had spells at Linfield, Portadown and Coleraine. He returned to his home town club in the summer after agreeing his release from the Bannsiders after less than six months with the club and has now completed his much anticipated move back to the Premiership. “Jamie knows the league and he’s a good player and the more good players we have the better. You always have to try to improve your squad as a manager and we are no different here at Dungannon. If good players become available and we can afford them then you want to try and bring them in. Jamie fell into the category of being a top Irish League player and obviously he is a good signing who I am delighted to have on board. I feel that I can bring the best out in Jamie and help him enjoy his football again. At 29 years old Jamie should be at his prime and I plan to ensure he tries to the best of his ability to reach it.” Said Swifts Manager Darren Murphy. Jamie has trained with the club on a few occasions over the past weeks and has expressed great enthusiasm; “I can’t wait to get back involved, the training facilities we have here now are unreal. We can get out there at training on the 3G pitch, get the ball on the ground and do a lot of ball work. I am so happy that this move worked out and hopefully I can get a run out against Glentoran today. I would like to thank everyone who made my return to Stangmore possible, especially Murph. Cheers” Welcome back to Stangmore Park Jamie and all the best from everyone at DSFC.
