CORMAC BURKE, is leaving Stangmore Park to join up with former Swifts Manager, Rodney McAree at Irish League side, Coleraine FC. Cormac will be remembered at Stangmore Park for his great character and ability on the pitch, but the memory that will stick out with most supporters is ‘that goal’ he scored in our Bet McLean League Cup Final win, last year, v Ballymena United.

Kris Lindsay said; “Cormac is leaving the Club and we wish him all the best at Coleraine. He has been here for 4/5 years now, he’s always given his utmost and he’s been nothing but a credit to himself since I’ve came in. In football these things happen and he leaves with our best wishes and enjoy his time at his new Club.”

We would like to thank Cormac for his loyalty and his commitment to Dungannon Swifts as a player throughout his time with us.

BURKE had this to say, ” I loved my four years at the club and haven’t a bad word to say about anyone. I wish you all the very best and thanks for everything!”

We would like to welcome central defender JAMES FERRIN to Stangmore Park, as our latest addition to the squad. James joins us from Glentoran where he spent two and a half seasons.

He made 55 appearances for Glentoran but had requested to be put on the transfer list, in the hope he would get more game time, elsewhere. Swifts manager Kris Lindsay has promised to fulfil his wish to the best of his ability and said;

“I’m delighted to have James on board, he’s came in and he’s signed an 18 month contract. It gives us great options at right back and centre half. It adds a little bit of competition to the squad. James is a good character he’ll fit right into the dressing room. I’m looking forward to seeing him play and looking forward to him fulfilling his potential with Dungannon. James will be straight into the squad v Cliftonville, on Saturday, at Stangmore Park.”

Twenty nine year old, Belfast boy, James had this to say;

“Dungannon Swifts Football Club is a Club with great ambitions, to be in the top six of Irish League Football. For me it’s about getting back playing regular football and enjoying it. After speaking to many people and many good friends, I know Dungannon is a really well ran Club, very professional Club and one that is really looking to kick on. There’s a good bunch of lads here and I think I’ll fit in well. I think my football ability will suit Dungannon, to help them progress and to keep the momentum going, start winning more games, secure this year and push on next year. I’ve big intentions to kick on going forward and I’m really looking forward to getting started!”

Welcome to Stangmore Park, James. We wish you every success in a Swifts shirt.
