Teenage midfielders Oisin Smyth and Cahal McGinty have signed professional contracts at the delight of Manager Kris Lindsay;

“Oisin and Cahal are both excellent young players, who I’m delighted to get signed on professional deals. It is a just reward for their attitude and application, and if they keep showing that desire to learn and progress as players, I have no doubt they both have big futures in the game. I must thank Dixie (Robinson), Jay (Willis), Terry (Fitzpatrick) and the rest of the development coaches for the great work they are doing with our young players and the club will reap the benefits of this in the years ahead.”

Smyth has been on the books at Dungannon (Swifts & DUY) since he was 12 years old and McGinty has been part of the Club for the past two and a half years. Both players are central midfielders and very exciting prospects.

Smyth said;

“I am very happy to sign my first professional contract with Dungannon Swifts. I have been working towards this for a while, thankfully now I’ve got my opportunity and hopefully I can push on. I have been playing for Dungannon for a while now and I’m really enjoying it. It’s a fantastic club and I can’t wait to push forward!”

McGinty had this to say;

“I’m delighted to sign my first professional contract with Dungannon, I am looking forward to the new challenge and working under the new management!”

Congratulations Oisin and Cahal, all the best for the future.

Dungannon Swifts is delighted to announce that Dixie Robinson has accepted the role of ‘Head of Development‘ at DSFC.

Dixie first signed for DSFC in 1984 and has been a part of the club for 34 years. He is passionate about Youth Development and we look forward to being able to draw on his experience, to help nurture all of the young talent coming through our Academy.

“I am delighted with my new position at the Club and I feel it’s an extension of the work I’m doing at Dungannon United Youth, just with an older group of players. I’ll be working with 15-19 year olds and I think with the group we have, it’s a fantastic opportunity for me. First and foremost I hope we continue to get more young players moving through to the first team and even better, get some across the water which would be terrific for both the Player and the Club. I can’t say enough how I really appreciate the opportunity given to me.”

We wish Dixie well in his development role as well as continuing as Manager of our Under 20 Development team.

Dungannon Swifts would like to put on record our thanks to those coaches and staff who worked under Rodney McAree who are no longer part of the current backroom staff. We appreciate all the work that was carried out by them and we wish them well for the future. Thank you, from all at Dungannon Swifts Football Club.

BREAKING NEWS | Lindsay to lead the Stangmore Blues

BREAKING NEWS | Lindsay to lead the Stangmore Blues

Chairman, Keith Boyd, welcomes our new Manager, Kris Lindsay, to Stangmore Park.

Dungannon Swifts Football Club have the absolute pleasure of announcing that our new Manager will be, Mr Kris Lindsay.

Kris was very keen to move into management and we are really looking forward to having him on board at Stangmore Park. He will bring with him an extensive knowledge of the local game and a desire to be as successful in management, as he was while a player in the Irish League. He spent his time as a player playing for Portadown, Larne, Linfield and Glenavon during this time period he picked up 2 League titles, 3 Irish Cups, 1 League Cup, a County Antrim Shield and 2 Mid Ulster Cups.

Kris has been first team coach at Glenavon under Gary Hamilton for the past year and a half, proving to be a great success with them. He is a young, ambitious manager, who wants to win. He has an impressive vision for our club for both present and future times.

Kris has made his thoughts very clear to us;

“I’ve played under and worked for some great managers in my career and will always be indebted to Gary (Hamilton) and Glenavon for giving me the opportunity to coach at this level but I’ve never hidden the fact that I want to manage. When the opportunity arose here at Dungannon, it was something I was excited about and one that I couldn’t turn down and let pass me by. Dungannon is a family club with great facilities and ethos, and one that I have complete faith that I can get moving in the right direction up the table. It’s a fresh challenge for me and one that I can’t wait to get started with.”

“There is a core of quality players at the club and my immediate focus has to be to continue to get points on the board and start to move up the table. Longer term we have to focus and consolidate our position in the league and move forward to consistently breaking into the top six as that will give the club the opportunity to gain European qualification through the playoffs. All in all, I’m excited for the challenge ahead and it’s one I’m committed to and can’t wait to get started working with the players.”

Chairman Keith Boyd said;

“I am absolutely delighted with the appointment of our new manager, Kris Lindsay. He has lots of experience within the Irish League and I am excited to see what he brings to Dungannon Swifts. I would like to thank Glenavon Football Club for granting us permission to speak to Kris. I would ask all our supporters and the Town of Dungannon to get behind Kris as he commits his future to our Club.”

Kris will be at training on Thursday night and will also be present in the dugout for our fixture away to Glenavon on Saturday. We would love if you could all come and get behind our new manager in this local derby. Transport will be leaving Stangmore Park at 2pm for the short journey to Lurgan.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome Kris, his wife, Emma, and two sons, Jacob and Alexander to Stangmore Park. We wish Kris every success as Manager of DSFC and we look forward to what the future brings for us as a Club.
