Darren Murphy has had a busy evening sorting out players for next season. Both Terry Fitzpatrick and David McCullough have signed new two year deals and Francis Brennan has agreed to a new one year deal.
“It is great to get these three lads sorted and have a lot of the current squad tied down for next season!” Said Murphy.
Jamie Tomelty has not been offered a new contract, Abby Sanusi has been released to go to America to try to play over there and midfielder Grant Hutchinson has also been released to go to England to complete his PGCE.
Murphy has expressed his thanks to the boys “I would like to thank all three boys for their contribution this season and wish them all the best in their different paths that they will be going on.”
On behalf of Dungannon Swifts we would like to congratulate all three boys who signed new deals and wish Jamie, Grant and Abby all the best.

Goalkeeper Andy Coleman is the eighth player to sign an extension to his contract at Dungannon Swifts since January. Coleman signed on the dotted line last night for a further two years and is delighted to be remaining at the club for at least the next two seasons. He joins the list of Ryan Harpur, Grant Hutchinson, Jamie Douglas, Andrew Mitchell, David Armstrong, Matthew Hazley and Dougie Wilson who have all recently penned new deals.
Speaking to us today Andy said,
“I couldn’t be happier to sign my extension for the club. There are twelve goalkeepers who get to play top flight football every Saturday and I certainly dont take it for granted how lucky I am to be one of them every week! Dungannon have one of the best training facilities in Ireland with 3 outdoor 3G pitches and one indoor pitch, plus a gym and spinning facilities if needed, so as players we are spoilt to have those. Also we train with the best footballing coach I’ve worked with in ten years in the Irish league (Rodney). He puts on the most unbelieveable sessions every Tuesday and Thursday, a coach who I believe will coach at a top level in England. The youth system is also top notch at Dungannon United Youth, so all in all the future is bright and I can’t wait to be part off it.”
First team coach Rodney McAree expressed his delight to us regards signing Andy for a further two years…
“It’s great news that Andy has committed to the club for a further 2 seasons, he’s proved a super addition to the squad, he has many qualities as a goal keeper, his distribution for me is 2nd to none and for our style of play he suits perfect! More great news for the swifts on the back of recent contract extensions!”
We are overjoyed that Andy and the rest of the players are enjoying their days at Stangmore park and as Andy said , THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT!!
Congratulations and best wishes Andy in your future Swifts career.

The good news just keeps on coming at Stangmore Park regards players committing their futures to the club. Matthew Hazley becomes the latest addition to the list of players who have already signed extensions to their contracts.
After having agreed his extension on Thursday night Matthew said,
” I’m over the moon to have signed a new contract, Dungannon is a great club full of great people and when Murph (Darren Murphy) approached me with the chance of staying and signing I was never going to turn it down. We have a great bunch of lads, everyone gets on with each other which is massive for me. Another factor was Rodney (McAree) and his training, he’s the best coach I’ve ever worked with and to work with him every week is a joy. Hopefully we can kick on and keep climbing the table. “
In other news Twenty year old midfielder Jamie Glackin will be remaining a Swifts player for the immediate future after interest from other clubs has been put on hold for the rest of the season.
Glackin said, “I am happy to be staying at Dungannon Swifts to the end of the season, it’s a great club, with great people and top training what more do you want!”
This news regards both Hazley and Glackin comes as a massive boost ahead of an important away game to Warrenpoint Town tomorrow. (Kick off 3pm)
Continued best wishes to both players for their Swifts futures.

After the tremendous news that four players had agreed new deals at the club, (Wilson, Douglas, Hutchinson and Harpur), this week we were delighted to announce that our Vice Captain and forever dependable defender David Armstrong has agreed a three year extension to his current Swifts contract. This delivers a major boost to the club as a whole as supporters can sit back and appreciate that the players want to stay at Dungannon Swifts and can only bode well for our forthcoming football.
David joined the club last summer and has slotted into his role at centre half comfortably, as well as making plenty of new friends on the pitch he has made just as many off the pitch at the club. David has adapted well to life at Dungannon Swifts and is certainly relishing his time here.
When speaking to David this week he made his feelings precise about the Swifts…
“To be honest I wouldn’t sign for anyone else in the Country! That’s just how much I am enjoying my football here. I’m at a stage where I certainly need to be playing and enjoying my football and thanks to Murph and Rod, and everyone else at the club, they have got that desire back in me and the love for the game comes flowing along with it.
Playing for the Swifts is different in a way from some other clubs in that there is no pressure on you to be expected to go out and win every single game you play in. Players can go out and give 100 per cent and people know you’re putting in the effort and it’s a real windfall when results come your way as it means so much to everyone. The club is a real family orientated club where everyone is close to each other and knows each other. My mum and dad would regularly come and watch us playing, especially our home games. My dad always enjoys watching games at Stangmore Park in particular and when in attendance they have always been made more than welcome by everyone around the club. Unfortunately my ‘Mrs’ works most Saturdays but the odd time she has been able to make a few games and bring my two year old son Alfie which has been really wonderful.
I think it always takes time to gel at a new club but it’s important to get off to a good start and that is half the battle. I feel that I did that and the boys in the squad took to me well helping me gel right in from early on in the season. I’ve been named as vice-captain of the club and actually captained the side on numerous occasions when Harps was off getting married (haha!), injured and suspended for example. Without any doubt it’s an absolute honour to Captain your team and the first time I got handed the captaincy I was a bit shocked as it is my first year at the club but I love doing it and hope to captain the side many more times in the future!
It’s been a strange season for us, the first half of the season we were playing great football but not getting the results in my opinion. Whereas more recently to our own standards we maybe haven’t played as well as we would like to but we have been winning and picking up valuable points. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going as there is such a positive buzz around the place at the minute.
On a different note there is a player on our team you are all going to have to watch out for, Francis Brennan. He’s always telling me he is the best player in the Country, so he must be going to turn into some player because I just haven’t seen it yet! My favourite thing about playing for the Swifts is getting to see Abby Sanusi’s clothing attire every training night. Oh dear me! Brutal.”
We take the opportunity to extend continued best wishes to David with his three year extension and wish him every success in a Swifts shirt. He has been an exceptional addition to our team in 2014/15 and we are ever grateful for his efforts.
Good luck David.
