Dungannon United Youth Fun Weeks!

Dear Parents and Children,

Twelve months have passed so quickly it is hard to believe that it is time once again for our Annual Soccer Coaching Fun Weeks.

Over the last 18 years the Fun Weeks have been a huge success and many children have enjoyed being a “Professional footballer” for the week. Also many of our young players have went on to play in either the Irish, English or Scottish Leagues. This is something we as coaches are very proud of and every year we seem to unearth another young prospect which can only be good for both the player and Dungannon United Youth.

In the season just passed our teams have had many successes, from our under 10s right up to our under 16s who won the N.I. Cup defeating Linfield in the May Day Final. So if you are aged between 4 & 15 and enjoy meeting new friends and learning new football skills come along to our Fun Weeks and you will not be disappointed.

This year those attending the Fun Weeks can purchase next seasons new playing and training kit for a reduced price of £60. Yes, that is two full kits, jersey, shorts & socks for £60! This is a saving of £20.

I look forward to seeing you there.

New Signing Andrew Mitchell pictured with First Team Assistant Coach Terry McCrory.

We are pleased to announce the signing of former Northern Ireland Youth International striker, Andrew Mitchell on a one year deal. Mitchell, who comes from Warringstown, has previously been on the books of Glenavon and most recently Ards where he spent last season on loan from the Lurgan side.

At a lofty 6’2”, twenty year old Mitchell featured in over 30 games for Ards last season. He also took part in the prestigious Milk Cup tournament as an NI U19 Elite player last summer and scored a memorable goal v Denmark.

“I am delighted that Andrew opted to sign for us despite having other options to choose from in the Premier League. After viewing the facilities available at the Swifts and Dungannon United Youth, along with other aspects of ‘Swifts life’, Andrew felt that signing for us was the best option available for him and his football career. He has told me that he can’t wait to get started back for the new season; he is really looking forward to working with Rod and meeting up with his new team mates.

Andy wanted an opportunity to prove himself and I am delighted that I can give him this, I hope that he settles in well and hits the ground running as he is a great lad and has been a pleasure to deal with. Other lads like Darren Boyce, Gary Liggett, Timmy Adamson, Mark McAllister and so on have all done well at Dungannon Swifts in a strikers role and I believe Andrew will be as good as them if not better!” said a delighted Darren Murphy.

Welcome to Stangmore Park Andrew, we hope you have a successful and happy Swifts career.

In other transfer news midfielder Chris Lavery and denfender Andrew Burns have both signed a new one year deal.

Northern Ireland International Call Up

10330229_10152413703928351_507734951230350925_nThree former Swifts players have been called up for the Northern Ireland International tour of South America. Current NI International Niall McGinn keeps his place in the squad but two new faces join him on the senior panel. Eighteen year old Liam Donnelly (Fulham) and twenty year old Luke McCullough (Doncaster) have both been called up to the full International team for the first time in their careers.
This is a terrific achievement for all three boys but in particular Liam and Luke with it being their debut call up. The team will play against Chile and Uruguay and hopefully all three will get some valuable game time.

We would like to wish Niall, Liam and Luke a safe journey to America and we hope they have a wonderful experience.

Good luck boys!
