Head coach Rodney McAree, Mark Patton and Chairman Keith Boyd.

Head Coach Rodney McAree made his first move in the transfer window by bringing in winger Mark Patton, from Glenavon earlier this week.  The 28-year-old began his career with Lisburn Distillery followed by a season with our neighbours Portadown, however he has spent the last four and a half years at Mourneview Park with Glenavon after signing for them in July 2013.

Patton who works for the ‘Football Management Company’ delivering GCSE equivalents and BTECs in schools, expressed his thoughts on signing for the club;

“I’m delighted to have signed for the club, I’ve been at Glenavon for a few years now and my playing time has been limited. I certainly haven’t got as much playing time as I would have wanted more recently so I really wanted to come here and prove a few people wrong. Hopefully I will be able to score goals and try to be able to win a few things with Dungannon as well. I’m really looking forward to getting involved!”

McAree is equally as happy to have captured the signature of the Lisburn lad;

“Delighted we have managed to sign Mark Patton from Mid Ulster neighbours Glenavon FC, Mark is an exciting attacking player who can create and score goals, he has super delivery from wide areas and will add a lot of quality to our squad. I look forward to working closely with Mark and I’m sure the supporters will be very happy with what he’ll deliver!”

Mark will be placed straight into the squad for our Irish Cup Fixture v Limadvady at Stangmore Park tomorrow (Saturday 6th January).

We would like to take the opportunity to Welcome Mark to Stangmore Park and wish him every success in a Swifts Jersey.

In other news, Nathaniel Ferris has left the club to join Championship side, Loughgall.

“I feel this is a good move for Nathaniel to allow him to get more competitive football, he has a lot going for him, strength, pace and an eye for goal. I’m sure this will be a beneficial move for him.” Rodney McAree.

Good Luck Nathaniel.
