We are pleased to announce the signing of former Northern Ireland Youth International striker, Andrew Mitchell on a one year deal. Mitchell, who comes from Warringstown, has previously been on the books of Glenavon and most recently Ards where he spent last season on loan from the Lurgan side.

At a lofty 6’2”, twenty year old Mitchell featured in over 30 games for Ards last season. He also took part in the prestigious Milk Cup tournament as an NI U19 Elite player last summer and scored a memorable goal v Denmark.

“I am delighted that Andrew opted to sign for us despite having other options to choose from in the Premier League. After viewing the facilities available at the Swifts and Dungannon United Youth, along with other aspects of ‘Swifts life’, Andrew felt that signing for us was the best option available for him and his football career. He has told me that he can’t wait to get started back for the new season; he is really looking forward to working with Rod and meeting up with his new team mates.

Andy wanted an opportunity to prove himself and I am delighted that I can give him this, I hope that he settles in well and hits the ground running as he is a great lad and has been a pleasure to deal with. Other lads like Darren Boyce, Gary Liggett, Timmy Adamson, Mark McAllister and so on have all done well at Dungannon Swifts in a strikers role and I believe Andrew will be as good as them if not better!” said a delighted Darren Murphy.

Welcome to Stangmore Park Andrew, we hope you have a successful and happy Swifts career.

In other transfer news midfielder Chris Lavery and denfender Andrew Burns have both signed a new one year deal.
