A cracking match is in store as Premier league Mid Ulster Ladies face Championship under dogs Loughgall Lakers.

While the Lakers face a buoyant Mid Ulster side they are certainly not overawed.

Manager Alex Clifford said “It is fantastic for the girls, after a long hard season, to have a final to look forward to”

“It is well deserved after we beat cup holders Dromore Amateurs in the semi-final and hopefully we can now go one better”

Alex added “We know it will be difficult against Mid Ulster but hopefully the girls can do themselves justice. However, regardless of the result it will be a great occasion regardless”

The cup final will generate some mixed emotions for Mid Ulster Ladies captain Claire Rooney as she previously played for the Lakers.

“I am really looking forward to Friday night’s final and being the Mid Ulster captain makes it even more special for me” said Claire

“It is a fantastic occasion for both clubs and I still have friends at Loughgall but once I step out on the pitch I will be totally focused on helping Mid Ulster Ladies win the cup!”

“All the players, including those not available for the final due to injury, University and holiday commitments as well as the coaches have worked hard all season and hopefully we will have something to show for it when the final whistle is blown”

The Mid Ulster Football Association introduced the cup competition to cater for the growing number of women’s club’s in the Associations area.

Association chairman Nigel Cooke is looking forward to the final and is urging all Mid Ulster clubs to come along and show their support for the development of the Women’s football in the area.

“This is our show case final for Women’s football and I hope there is a large crowd to enjoy the game”

“Women’s football is getting more and more media attention and I would like to thank Danske Bank for sponsoring the final”

“Danske Bank is a fantastic supporter of local sport and I hope that this is the beginning of a long and successful partnership”
